"Your intention as to whether this label will be pieced, appliquéd, or simply printed out onto fabric is up to you."

Quilt label

label: blank

Foundation paper piecing makes this possible in the smallest of sizes. I prefer printing with my computer to make quilt labels. It is easier to put a lot of info neater and cleaner than I ever could with pens. Print out your information on the background fabric and cut it to size for the center block to make this little quilt/label.

Christmas Quilt Label

label: blank

I used the holly leaf shapes from an applique wreath in EQ, cloned, flipped and rotated until there were enough. Tweaked a bow shape, also found in EQ, until it fit the space. I would definitely print this out and not try to applique these tiny, tiny points.

Bow Tie

label: "Block Name: Pieced By: Quilted By: Date Completed:"

6 inch square with one inch bowtie blocks around a 4 inch info block. Text in Corel Draw, converted to bmp in Paint and imported as picture in Layer 3 will actually use this (or a variation of it) on an existing vintage quilt that I recently machine quilted so that influenced my color and design choices.

label: "For Shirley with love,
Healing Hearts Quilt, Made with Love, Hearts made by friends, pieced by Verona Procyshyn, Quilted by Melinda Fulkerson, Batting donated by Patty Mancino
"

I had to make a Healing Hearts quilt for someone, and so this challenge was very appropriate for me, as I wanted to make a label for the quilt.

Susan Warren
Sew Much Fun Label

label: "Club EQ5 Challenge created by Susan Warren 2002"

Using the Dried Flowers Pallette to change the default colors on these applique patches, I used the Horizontal Medalion layout pattern and created a 5" x 5" layout with a .5" border. The text was done in my Paint program; then I used my MGI photo program to crop everything but the center medallion containing the text.
Susan W
Human Hands

label: "This quilt was cat tested and approved by Emily and Charlotte 'The Flying Bronte Sisters' Christmas 2002
Human Hands
by Susan
"

Picture scanned then imported into Paint text was added - saved as bmp. My two cats without fail curl up and nap on every quilt I have ever made - including small wallhangings. So I now employ them as Quality Assurance Testers.

J Rory Kirby
First Label Experiment

label: "Lovingly Woven with you in mind by Warp & Weft"

This label has poor lettering because the Paint program screen was too small to permit more than 14 and 16 point letters. Two text boxes were used. The top one for the first three rows of 14 point text; the second for the last line The Paint text was inserted into a clipboard blank block from EQ5. The Paint worktable was sized to match the imported block. The text was saved as a .bmp file and then imported through the Library ' Import Picture' feature. The text picture was selected from the Picture Tab of the Block Set tool and placed in Layer 1 of the Custom Set Quilt, then surrounded with 'Mosaic No.1 and Mosaic No.5 blocks

Second Label Experiment

label: "Lovingly Woven with you in mind by Warp & Weft"

For this label, the starting point was the Paint Program. The worktable was expanded to allow 28 point and 36 point Zurich Galligraphic text to be used. The first tree rows of text were in a text box using 28 point, the fourth in a second box using 36. The .bmp file was saved, then imported into Libraries using Picture Import. The file was selected into a Custom Set quilt,Layer 1, (by mistake) using the Picture tab of the Block Set tool, sized and centred with the adjust tool, then the quilt was re-sized to 5.5" square and surrounded with Mozaic blocks as before.

Falling Leaves

label: "Made wth Love By Mom 2003"

The scarecrow, pumpkin, sunflowers and maple leaf block I drew in either EQ4 or 5. For the background of the lettering, I colored a plain block and used the snapshot to copy it into Word Perfect, typed the lettering and saved it as an EQ bitmap in Irfanview after cropping it.
