Club EQ Album: June 2005 Challenge: Altered Blocks! Page 1

Take a block from the EQ Block Library. Consider ways that parts of that block could be used to create two different blocks. In other words, delete units from one block to create something new. Use those deleted units to create a second block. You can do this with the block on the block drawing worktable. For the first round, delete lines that make units in the block. Save to the Sketchbook. Then recall the same block to the drawing worktable and delete the lines you saved the first time but keep the ones you deleted the first time. You should have two coordinating blocks to use to design a two- or three-block quilt.

For this challenge, you will be allowed to submit up to 2 quilts total.

Gooseberry Pie

I found units in the Country Crown block that would work great in a new block of their own and coordinate well. The Flying Geese border picks up triangle units in the original block.

I love Japanese taupe quilts. I added the hexagon blocks in the border because I thought that was what a Japanese quilter might do with some open space.

This is based on the block "Diamonds" in Blockbase. I tried to take away bits of the block without loosing the basic block design.

Quite a surprise

This is my first challenge, I have only been using EQ5 for a short time but I have been able to learn a lot about the program by using their books, some online classes, and me goofing around.
I tried different color combinations but this colors looked quite striking to me so I stayed with these to send to the contest. Love the possibilites of all that I can do. I am from Cleveland, OH but originally from the Dominican Republic.

Red jewel

My second quilt for this chalenge for whatever reason reminds me of jewrely. I am still amazed by how different a block can look by deleting different lines. This quilt has so many different sections that the color combinations are infinite. I am only sending two quilts for the challenge but my original EQ5 project for this contest has over 40 quilts, wow!! Now if I only can find the time to make some of them.

Starsflowers In My Garden

My altered block was from the EQ5 block called EQ Star 2.
This is the first time I have done a challenge. This was soooo much fun.
