Tying the Knot

The tied bow border is intended to drape off the top of the bed, so there are only three borders around this quilt.

Wheels and Vines

A vintage quilt with the block, "Letha's Electric Fan" inspired this design. It is reminiscent of the 30s but is colored with a different palette.

Tranquil Garden

I thought the oriental prints would make beautiful butterflies to fly around the border of a flower garden.

Pumpkin Fields

I was working with Jack-o-Lanterns on another quilt so decided to stay with the pumpkin theme for my Applique Borders.
I love fall colours so this was a pleasure to work on.

My Trucks!

The "nine patch" & "contrary wife" blocks make the center of this quilt. I was inspired by my Son & Grandson's love of
Trucks when they were little guys!

Red Sky at Night

The block was drawn from a traditional American Quilt seen on either the internet or in a magazine. Wish I'd made better notes.
The vine shapes are from EQ's Library & joined together. Flowers, Leaves and Ladybird are my own. The butterfly is extracted and adapted from an EQ block with 4 butterflies.

Honeysuckle

A bit of nostalgia going on here: the 'Merry Kite' block in this quilt is the same one I used in my very first EQ challenge (July, 2002).
The border applique is set in layers, the bottom layer for the vine and leaves and the top layer for the flowers This allowed me to use both green and purple thread color to outline the applique. It would also make it easy to change to different flowers.

Searching for a Coat of Arms

A knotty ribbon for the border, a variation of the 'Berry Basket' block for the center, and a simple color scheme -- an easy challenge that was fun to do. I love EQ5 drawing!

I drew these border elements some time ago. As I remember, I based them on an ink drawing in a newspaper ad for a candle store that is no longer in business.

Sydni's Innocence

Inspired by Sweet Innocence from Nancy Odom's book "Fast Asleep". The center blocks were designed by Robyn Pandolph.

This quilt was actually made for my Granddaughter, Sydni on the occasion of her birth. The outer border is scalloped and has a fan design with a bow quilted into each scallop. Each of the center blocks has some machine trapunto to emphasize the terrific designs. Her birthdate is also embroidered into the small heart in the middle of the star.

Christmas Blooms

Using blocks from the EQ Library for the main part of the quilt. I did the quilt and border with these colors to go with a quilt top I have appliqued from a pattern by Piece O' Cake. I also plan on doing the top of the quilt as shown as I plan on putting it on my bed.

Santa with Poinsettea Border

I drew this border using Patchdraw tools beginning with the vine, adding leaf shapes and the flowers.

The worktable setup for the border blocks was 24 Horizontal, 6 Vertical and the graph paper at the same.

Oak Leaves in Autumn

I used one of the Baltimore Album Style blocks from the EQ library, copied it and pasted it onto an overlaid block, put it on point, then edited a fan block and pasted that onto the corners on the pieced layer of the overlaid block to get the four arcs in the center block. I then copied one of the leaves from the Oak Leaf Baltimore block and used it as the base for my border block. I drew hearts at various junctions along my vine and added some circles for the centers of the heart flowers.

Fun exercise. I think this border would work well for a table runner as well.

My pink quilt

I have somehow gotten stuck in pink colours these days.

I wanted the colours of the floweres to reflect themselves in the blocks.

Sunflower Patch

I started out with an applique block from EQ and modified it to use for the applique. I then found a pieced Sunflower Block for the center of the quilt.

Dublin Blues

I am designing a quilt for friends, one of whom comes from Ireland, so I have been drawing and tracing celtic knots for part of the quilt so this challenge came st just the right time. The name of this quilt comes from the two shades of blue which are the colours of Dublin.

Hearts & Holly

Wreathmaker played with the Hearts & Holly motif. I made a real quilt with the centre block as part of a fundraising wallhanging for our church. For it, I omitted some of the holly leaves and used multiple horizontal borders in various Christmas fabrics. This one looks lighter but would involve a lot more work.
