"Design a clock. It could be for a quilt or for some other completely different
medium. It could be for a real project or one that is completely fantasy." - Barb Vlack

A virtual border with a Double Wedding Ring arch is paired with a
block designed by combining the Friendship Star and the Double Wedding
Ring. Ravie font Arabic numbers were used.
I discovered that most clocks with Arabic numbers keep the numbers
orientated straight up.

A clock design such as this one does not have to be restricted to
the fabric medium. I could imagine this rendered with ceramic tiles,
metals, and fine wood.
I've discovered that most clocks with Roman numerals have the number
4 represented with four lines and the numerals rotate around a central
pivot point. I had never paid attention to that before!

How do you measure time? The clock moves it's hands to the minute
and hour. Twelve hours separates day and night. The calendar indicates
the date and day of the week, which advances into months. Four seasons
and a full revolution of the earth around the sun advance one year.
All of these are depicted in this quilt.

Colored with wood grain looking fabrics. After looking at Barb's
examples, I was inspired to do something elegant, yet simple.

Something to help the kiddies learn to tell time, and learn the alphabet
at the same time. Admittedly, if I were to make this clock (very doable),
I would embroider rather than applique the smallest numbers!

I seem to have kids on the brain these days. Here's a nautical clock
I could easily see in a child's room!

I'm Thinkin' Spring while watching the snow fly outside!!

When I was young, sitting in a chair at the Beauty Shop was a treat.
A clock there similar to this one fascinated me. It hung on a wall
over the shampoo basin across the room from the styling chairs. Dear
Mrs. -- could check the time in the mirror as she worked on someone's
hair.
This shop also had a science-fiction type rig with electrical cords
and clamps for setting permanent waves. When I saw Mom all hooked
up in it, I cried. She sure looked pretty afterwards, though.
The font used here is Poor Richard.

My friend Florence has a clock similar to the center portion of this
one. For some strange reason, Bible class never proceeds in a timely
fashion when it's at her home.
The real clock from which I borrowed this idea is a simple round
shape. I added the stained glass borders/frame just for fun.
The font is Curlz -- a total hoot to draw!

So the best part about this project is that my 6 year old daughter,
Sarah, helped me. FUN!!! We wanted this to have a sort of eccentric
feel (Sarah said, "funky"), like it was made by the odd
old lady with a lot of cats at the end of the street. She's the kind
that people gossip about but all the kids love.

This was a challenge to work with the design cookbook to get a colored
block behind the rooster. I had to read and reread the instructions.
I then had to save the colorwash blocks to look like morning when
the sun comes up. A new day is dawning.

I found this on an AARP paper and wanted to see if I could draw it
for this challenge. It was a fun project. This little lady is having
