Electric Quilt 6 Frequently Asked Questions

Every so often, my quilt prints out differently than on the screen --- it may be missing a block, or things aren't rotated as expected. What do I do?
Let's try printing directly to the printer.

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
  2. Right click on your printer.
  3. Choose Properties > Advanced tab > Click 'Print directly to the printer.'
  4. Click Apply.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Try printing again.

My yardage chart is only printing thin lines at the top (no text). How do I fix this?
We have had 2 customers report this issue: yardage calculation just showed black lines at the top.

You are missing the font that printing is set to by default (Arial). The issue can be solved by changing the fonts that EQ6 looks for in each of the 5 different possible settings to a font that you do have.

To change the font that EQ6 is looking for: please see page 285 in the EQ6 User Manual. Note that you need to do this 5 times so you change the font for all 5 items: Symbol, Number, Header, Footer and Data. (Number is especially used for the yardage chart printout.)

If that does not help, see if you have the most current version of your printer driver for your operating system.

I can't change my printer in EQ6. There's no printer button when I click Page Setup. What can I do?
This was an undocumented change Microsoft made between the Vista beta and actual Vista they released. To correct this issue, please download and install the EQ6 Update. This will add a new menu option (FILE > Printer Setup) that will allow you to switch printers now.
