I was excited to get these, thinking it would expand both my use of EQ8 and my Accuquilt, and grabbed it as soon as it was available. However, I have to say I’m disappointed.
First, as someone already noted, the die number doesn’t print – so there is extra work to go look it up. Any time saved using this in EQ8 is wasted again with this lookup step – I can look in my Accuquilt book to find the info faster, erasing the need for the EQ8 add-on.
Second, the Qubes are based on a 2×2 layout – so why are you only giving me the whole block? It would have been much more useful to get the quarters or sub-pieces, so I could mix and match them myself, and make 3×3 or 4×4 layouts using the pieces provided in the Qube. This is a clear miss for me.
Having the Corners and Angles in one add-on was nice, and allows more flexibility, and the ability to just download and have it appear in the program is a definite plus over drafting the blocks yourself. But there are some basic functions (like displaying the die numbers) that I expected and did not get. Perhaps a focus group or usability testing with Accuquilt users might have been beneficial.
I know this was a first pass, but I hope EQ8 takes some of this onboard and updates their offering. As for me, I’ll be drawing my own pieces and not purchasing any more of the add-on sets.
What a wonderful collaboration between EQ8 and Accuquilt! From software download to cutting and sewing my first block, I found the process super easy, quick and fun! I love Accuquilt products because they allow for fast and accurate cutting and EQ8 because I can easily design projects…this collab makes me happy!
This add is a must for any AccuQuilt Qube owner! I also love seeing that possibilities that are available with the Corners and Angels. The beauty of this software is that you don’t need to have Accuquilt as you can get templates/paper pieced or rotary cut instructions!
I have previously spent ages recreating Qube designs in the block work table to try out ideas, so this product was an instant YES for me as soon as it was released! I even went back to a previous quilt I made using the Qube corners set and got to see it in different colors and sizes. The possibilities really are endless!
I use EQ to design all my quilts and most of them are cut with my AccuQuilt Qube, corners, and angles! This is a fantastic add-on. Having all the blocks available in EQ8 really helps in designing and saves time from drawing them myself! Plus, the die # is included in the instructions! If you love EQ and AccuQuilt you really NEED this add-on!
Super handy to have the full catalog of “official” Qube blocks all in one place in EQ8! I really love being able to resize the blocks to go from one Qube to another so simply.
What a great add-on! I was always searching through the block libraries looking for blocks I could make with my Accuquilt Qube. The searching is over, now they’re all in one place! The resources are easy to understand and accessible. Two thumbs up!
Just like apple pie and cheese or a kiss and a squeeze, Accuquilt and Electric Quilt make the perfect pair!
I always loved the versatility and power of EQ and always loved the speed, accuracy and versatility of Accuquilt but now with the new Accuquilt add on, I can audition Qube blocks, experiment with colour and integrate them with my other EQ blocks automatically.
Bye bye graph paper and hello unlimited creativity in Electric Quilt!
Mind officially blown! Thank you Electric Quilt!
I love this Accuquilt block add-on! It makes it simple to create quilts for my Mix & Match Qubes and includes all of the blocks I can create with my qube. The blocks are organized into Mix & Match, Companion Corners, and Companion Angles, so if you don’t have the companion sets, you can easily see which blocks can be made. I’m looking forward to making quilts using these blocks!
If you use any of the AccuQuilt GO! Qubes and Electric Quilt, you will definitely want to add the EQ8 Mix & Match, Plus Corners and Angles software to EQ. Having all of the blocks available in EQ makes it fast and easy to design your quilts!
This add-on is great for designing quilts using the Qube blocks, no matter what the block size is, and EQ tells you the yardage and the die numbers too! So many fun combinations!!
While it’s true that all the blocks stated are included, I was a little disappointed that the AccuQuilt cube die number does not print. You have to manually go look at a separate PDF. I could have done that myself without buying this add on.
