Go from zero to confidence to creativity using Electric Quilt (EQ7) software. We start by combining blocks, borders, and virtual fabrics, turning your PC or MAC computer screen into a design wall. Before long, you’ll be using the latest fabrics, trying exciting color combinations, and printing blocks and patterns. You’ll learn to use modern, free-form settings as well as intricate traditional designs, try multiple border options and practice drawing curved and straight lines as you make your own blocks and appliqué shapes.

As we progress, you’ll expand your knowledge of EQ7 by learning to design quilts that incorporate embroidery, text, and scanned fabric from your own stash. Learn the tools that let you edit and transform your photos so they can be incorporated into your designs.

      $300.00

      Instructor: Barb Vlack

See how much fun it is to draw blocks in the program, to “reverse engineer” quilt layouts from pictures or patterns so you can discover how they were designed in order to edit the layout, to audition colors and fabrics, and to design border treatments that can turn your quilt into a show stopper. Learn the basics for drawing with EasyDraw and PatchDraw (for pieced blocks and applique). Create original blocks to add to My Library. Explore the ways the many quilt layout possibilities in the program will help you craft variations of your basic quilt design. Practice how to use the Layout Library and Custom Set to design with blocks of different sizes and to size or resize the overall quilt.
